CGE Alpha Team to Open New Opportunities for African Job Seekers

July 25, 2016

A Global Scholars Alpha Team will help Nigeria’s largest online jobs platform improve the skills of African job seekers. Over six weeks participants in The Center for Global Enterprise’s (CGE) digital internship program will work with Jobberman to design online management courses for the next generation of entrepreneurs and employees of digital companies in Africa.

Up to 21 participants will work alongside experienced mentors to develop a framework to guide the expansion of Jobberman Learning, the company’s career development arm.

Alpha Team members will:

  • Research the best practices to incorporate in an online learning curriculum.
  • Identify the top unmet skills and management needs, focusing on platform business models.
  • Establish a certification process that reflects the needs of platform businesses and the marketplace.

The Alpha Team digital internship is an offering of CGE’s Global Scholars programming. Participants from diverse countries, cultures, and experiences, collaborate to solve a real-world business problem for a company sponsor. The global team is comprised of business students, professionals, and academic faculty.

With support from The Rockefeller Foundation, CGE programs help platform businesses in Africa solve real-world business challenges and improve the skills of the next generation of entrepreneurs. A recent Global Scholar Alpha Team developed a strategic plan to help Rasello, a software company based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, expand beyond its home country. In May, CGE conducted a free management course designed to provide expertise on emerging digital business models.

Applications for the Jobberman Alpha Team open on August 1 and will close Sunday August 14 at 11:59pm ET. Apply here
