Sangeet Paul Choudary
Sangeet is the founder of Platform Thinking Labs, a C-level advisory firm on platform dynamics, an Entrepreneur in Residence at the INSEAD Business School, the Co-Chair of the MIT Platform Strategy Summit at the MIT Media Labs, an advisor at 500Startups in Silicon Valley and the founder of the blog Platform Thinking, best known for his work on platform business models and network effects.
Sangeet’s work on platform economics has been recommended by and featured on leading media and journals globally, including the Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review, MarketWatch, Forbes, Inc Magazine, WIRED Magazine, Fast Company, The Hindu, TechCrunch, Business Insider, the MIT Digital Community, DataQuest and GigaOm. He is a contributing author to the book Managing Startups, edited by Prof. Tom Eisenmann.
Sangeet is a regular keynote speaker at leading industry conferences, including the G20 World Summit events in Brisbane (2014) as well as SIBOS, ITB Asia, TechVenture and TheNextWeb Europe. He has also been a guest lecturer on platform economics at leading business schools and research labs globally, including the Harvard Business School, INSEAD Business School, MIT Media Labs, University of California Davis, Boston University, NUS-ISS and THNK Amsterdam.
He is the co-chair of the MIT Platform Strategy Summit held annually at the MIT Media Labs in Boston, featuring founders and CXOs of Android, Duolingo, Cisco, Alibaba, Thomson Reuters, Pearson, Salesforce etc.
Sangeet advises Fortune 500 firms as well as high growth startups on designing platform architecture and strategies for creation and governance of network effects. He is an expert on the GigaOm Experts Network and a guest expert on Channel News Asia, South-East Asia’s leading news channel.
Sangeet has worked extensively withs startups. He serves on the advisory board of OneVest – CoFounders Lab, the largest online community of entrepreneurs globally. He has mentored startups at MassChallenge (Boston), Bombacamp (Chile) and JFDI (Asia), and is a Fellow at the Nanyang Technopreneurship Center in Singapore. He is also an advisory board member of the SaltGrid Initiative which aims to create a reputation layer for the emerging platform economy.
Sangeet was formerly the head of innovation and new ventures for Intuit Asia-Pacific, a founding member of Project Agrinova (a platform connecting farmers with buyers of farm produce in India, featured as a Harvard Business School case study), an early member of TxtWeb (a platform for bringing web publishing to SMS-only phones) and was responsible for managing Yahoo’s largest M&A deal in South Asia, an investment in a two-sided marketplace connecting local businesses with consumers.
He has a top-tier education background with a B.Tech. in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore and has been ranked among the top 0.1% students in India.
